On a slightly larger scale, this Talmadge addition is a light-filled studio (that includes a bathroom with a shower) over the existing two-car garage.

The addition's ten foot ceiling and tall windows give it a surprisingly spacious feel. The pop-out window box on the west side includes a window seat to further gracefully expand the room.

 

Adhering to city building codes is critical for all building projects. Not following code can result in major fines and in some cases, total tear-downs.

 

Some city codes restrict total home square footage to a percentage of the lot size.  In this case, because the pop-out hovers over the garage roof, the pop-out was not counted in the limited square footage allowed per city rules.
